About Me
Hello,   my name is Paul Tuckley and I am a photographer currently based in the beautiful county of Dorset.   Whilst I love all aspects of photography my main area of focus is the natural world.
My Photography Journey
My first camera was a little Kodak 110 film camera and over the years I have had many point and shoot type cameras.  In the late 1980’s I decided to get into photography in a more serious way and bought myself a Canon AE-1 35mm camera, but with the high cost of film and developing, and the arrival of my daughter, I just couldn’t afford to continue.
Jump forward to around 2010 and a trip to Queenstown in New Zealand was all the inspiration I needed to take the plunge into the world of digital photography and I have been hooked ever since. Today photography is a huge part of my life. If I am not out photographing one of the many subjects that catch my eye I spend most of my time editing and cataloging my images, reading photography books or watching photography tutorials or simply just thinking about how to improve my own photography.
My Inspiration
I grew up in the Black Country, at the heart of the industrial West Midlands surrounded by the sights and sounds of heavy industry. In many ways growing up in an urban, industrialised environment is behind my lifelong love of wildlife and the natural world which forms the inspiration for my photography.   I am captivated by the beauty of everyday moments and the intricate details of wildlife and nature. The way light filters through a forest or the quiet grace of a bird in flight sparks my creative vision. Film, music, and literature also deeply influence my work, enriching my perspective and helping me capture the emotion and stories that nature silently conveys.
Thank you for taking the time to explore my work. I hope my photography inspires you to look closer, appreciate the rich tapestry of life around us, and perhaps see these creatures and the world around us in a new light.
